Reçu récemment sous la Coupole de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts, le grand chef japonais, aujourd’hui âgé de 74 ans, était accueilli par un discours de Hugues R. Gall. L’ancien directeur de l’Opéra de Paris, qui connaît bien Ozawa pour l’avoir souvent invité dans la fosse de Bastille, n’a pas souhaité, à raison, utiliser à son sujet le mot « autorité ». « Pour vous, il faut parler d’aura, d’une totale intimité avec la partition, d’une telle intelligence du texte musical que l’on croit lire toute l’œuvre à vous la voir danser ! » a-t-il insisté… Ozawa retrouve précisément pour cette soirée exceptionnelle les musiciens de l’Opéra de Paris. Son art chorégraphique de la direction s’exprimera ce soir dans un programme partagé entre le Haydn méconnu de la Symphonie concertante pour hautbois, basson, violon et violoncelle en si bémol majeur et le Bruckner « juvénile » et vif de la Symphonie n° 1. L’oeuvre qui date de 1865-1866 marque les premiers pas dans le domaine de la symphonie d’un grand musicien venu « sur te tard » à la composition. Lors de la création à Linz en 1868, il est alors âgé de 44 ans… Mais on sait qu’il rattrapa son retard dans les trois décennies qui suivirent ! Enfin, mention spéciale aux formidables solistes « maison » dans Haydn, héros souvent anonymes d’un orchestre d’exception : Olivier Doise (hautbois), Laurent Lefèvre (basson), Maxime Tholance (violon) et Cyrille Lacrouts (violoncelle).
