La Semaine dansée commence le 2 février avec Membros, compagnie de danse hip-hop brésilienne, installée dans la ville de Macaé, qui compte l’un des plus grands indices d’homicides au Brésil. Elle travaille sur la base d’un principe atypique : réunir une dizaine de jeunes de tout milieu, n’ayant pas de contact avec la danse, et les inviter à participer à la formation d’une compagnie de danse professionnelle. Leur danse convulsive dit la violence qui les entoure, tout en montrant que la violence peut se transformer en énergie, et la révolte en création. Deux jours plus tard, avec Que ma joie demeure, c’est a priori une tout autre esthétique qui nous est proposée : mais la chorégraphe Béatrice Massin a « agrandi » et magnifié le vocabulaire de la danse baroque, à tel point qu’elle nous livre, elle aussi, un véritable concentré de dynamisme. Le 6 février, Serge Aimé Coulibaly (Burkina Faso) présente Babemba, un projet ambitieux. Il s’agit d’explorer, à travers le medium danse, « la partie de nous qui rejoint des hommes exceptionnels » : Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, Kwamé Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela. Enfin, le 8 février, Sébatien Lefrançois donne avec Roméos et Juliettes sa version (hip-hop) de l’œuvre de Shakespeare.
