Comment décririez-vous votre lien particulier avec l’univers de Léo Ferré ?
Serge Utgé-Royo : Le lien qui unit mon expression artistique à celle de Léo Ferré est la langue française (celle dans laquelle je m’exprime le moins mal !) pour sa beauté, mais aussi pour sa précision, sa poésie et sa construction universelle, la ligne mélodique pour porter les mots. L’univers de Léo est littéraire, musicalement mélodique, en plus d’une orchestration de talent et d’une liberté de pensée politique, sociale, symbolique, etc. Il utilise la chanson pour l’art, mais aussi pour dire le réel, le désir d’avenir, la colère, la peine, l’amour, le bonheur… Il est une sorte d’alchimie entre poésie et musique ancrée dans la réalité ; c’est assez rare. J’aime l’idée de tenter modestement de marcher sur ses chemins.
Vous êtes, à votre façon, un "enfant de Léo" : l’enfant espagnol en quelque sorte, car l’Espagne est très présente dans son univers…
S. U.-R. : Ferré a été au côté des Espagnols exilés dès le début avec en particulier le concert à la Mutualité en 1946… Le sort de ces vaincus l’a touché tout au long de sa vie : c’était pour moi et les miens un grand frangin solidaire. Mais j’ai appris à sortir de l’Espagne douloureuse pour parler de ma vaste société, comme lui-même l’a fait, bien plus brillamment et fortement que moi. Sa dimension artistique et littéraire ouverte à la réalité des hommes, et son courage de pamphlétaire me touchent profondément. Il est un bon compagnon d’expression. On peut l’étudier, le faire connaître, le « redistribuer »…
