Vipérin, corrosif et provocateur, le théâtre de Hanokh Levin dresse un portrait sans concessions de l’humanité. Les personnages de Shitz sont tous plus odieux les uns que les autres. Au désir viscéral des parents d’enfin marier leur fille, laideron boulimique et narcissique, répond l’espoir taraudant de la donzelle de convoler à tout prix pour jouir sans entraves et enfin jeter son bonnet et sa gourme par-dessus les moulins. Tchirk, entreprenant jeune homme que séduit davantage la bourse du papa que les appâts rebondis de son héritière, négocie âprement ses services matrimoniaux et accepte la noce en échange d’une dot faramineuse. Loup enfin installé dans la bergerie, Tchirk entreprend de tondre avec application le vieux Shitz, le dépouillant progressivement de tout ce qu’il possède.
La grossièreté et la grâce
L’intrigue pourrait avoir l’allure d’un conte moral édifiant si ce n’était le parfait équilibre de la violence et des égoïsmes. En effet, ni victime ni bourreau avérés dans cette jungle libérale où chacun n’a cure que de lui-même et est prêt à sacrifier les autres sur l’autel de sa propre jouissance. Père, mère, fille et gendre semblent avoir fait le deuil du surmoi et exposent leurs désirs sans complexes. Critique au vitriol des faux-semblants de la piété filiale, Shitz est en même temps une caricature acerbe du consumérisme moderne. Hanokh Levin, qui dévoile les turpitudes de ses personnages avec une lucidité aux limites de l’obscénité, montrant ce qu’habituellement la morale cache, sait néanmoins mâtiner sa virulence de tendresse. C’est cet équilibre paradoxal que Cécile Backès a voulu mettre en scène. Elle offre aux quatre comédiens, qui s’en donnent à cœur joie dans la farce, l’occasion de respirations émouvantes dans les parties chantées, où les fêlures intimes et la fragile humanité de membres de cette famille exécrable apparaissent. Servi par un quatuor à l’indéniable abattage (Benoît Di Marco et Salima Boutebal sont excellents en jeunes rapaces), cette pièce atteste que le pari de qualité de la nouvelle équipe de la Pépinière Théâtre est en passe d’être gagné.
