Mathilde Monnier aime à bousculer les lignes, qui, parfois, à force d’habitudes, ficèlent l’imaginaire et finissent par tirer la création au cordeau. Ainsi collabore-t-elle régulièrement depuis quelques années avec des artistes qui l’attirent hors champs disciplinaires, trouvant dans la rencontre matière à chercher, à surprendre et se laisser surprendre. En 2009, elle concevait avec le peintre Dominique Figarella Soapéra, dialogue en mouvement entre les corps et les formes plastiques nées de l’effervescence mousseuse d’une substance insolite. « Mettre en scène, en danse un processus de travail pictural, faire de ce dernier l’objet même de la représentation, écrire une danse sans sujet ou plus exactement nourrir l’écriture chorégraphique de la seule pratique en acte d’un geste autre, celui d’une oeuvre plastique en cours d’élaboration, tel est en effet le pari de Soapéra, un quatuor écrit à quatre mains », expliquait alors la chorégraphe. Elle retrouve aujourd’hui le plasticien pour inventer une nouvelle version de la pièce, où le spectateur approche l’oeuvre en observateur actif de la dislocation de la matière, jusqu’à sa désintégration.
