Les claquettes selon Savion Glover affolent les rythmes et percutent plein corps, là où pulse le mouvement. Enfant prodige qui dès dix ans débutait à Broadway, il joue de ses pieds comme un batteur de jazz et dépoussière la « tap dance », née d’une fusion des syncopes africaines et de la gigue irlandaise dans le New York des années 1830. En digne héritier de Bill Robinson, des Nicholas Brothers et de Gregory Hines, il apporte de nouveaux tons en mélangeant be-bop et hip-hop, en se débarrassant des paillettes nostalgiques du music-hall. Avec SoLo iN TiME, Savion Glover marie cette fois les claquettes et le flamenco, dont le zapateado (claquements des pieds) pilonne le sol en salves crépitantes. Entouré de son complice Marshall Davis Jr., d’une chanteuse et percussionniste flamenco-pop et de deux musiciens, il décline une gamme rythmique et sonore toute en nuances pour qu’« à chaque pas tracé sur le sol, s’exprime la poésie propre à la voix intérieure de chaque danseur. »
