Le chevalier errant à la triste figure, raconté par Cervantès, est une ombre mythique plus ou moins connue, qui n’échappe à personne selon les publics populaires ou intellectuels, avertis ou non, jeunes ou moins jeunes – des catégories que rejette avec virulence Irina Brook qui se met délibérément à l’écoute de tous les spectateurs, ceux de la vie de tous les jours et de notre monde. Nous sommes d’ailleurs tous, plus ou moins, des Don Quichotte à vouloir nous battre contre des moulins à vents pour des rêves et des illusions qui nous font vivre. Les aventures initiatiques et philosophiques de ce chevalier excentrique s’inscrivent dans notre modernité. La metteuse en scène est accompagnée de six acteurs dont une danseuse de flamenco et un accordéoniste acrobate. Avec la musique « bluegrass gospel », l’équipe traite de la réalité d’aujourd’hui « qui croule sous les injustices sociales » sans négliger le roman « qui rêve d’idéalisme pour aller dans un étrange monde imaginaire et mythique ». La vitalité de ce théâtre se situe dans un no man’s land, moitié Espagne du XVIIe siècle et moitié road-movie américain. Tentant.
