Théâtre de la Ville / d’après Sonezaki Shinjû Tsuketari Kannon Meguri, de Chikamatsu Monzaemon / mes et direction artistique d’Hiroshi Sugimoto
Le bunraku, théâtre japonais datant du XVIIème siècle, utilise des marionnettes de grande taille, manipulées à vue. Cet art magnifie les drames de la vie et les affres de la passion. Le talent des souples manipulateurs, qui se déplacent en position de kathakali, et auquel le metteur en scène impose la difficulté supplémentaire du masque, celui des joueurs de shamisen (luth japonais), et des tayû, narrateurs du récit, exaltent ensemble la puissante beauté des poupées, comme animées d’une vie intérieure. Hiroshi Sugimoto a choisi cette ancestrale technique pour raconter le destin tragique d’un jeune homme épris d’une belle courtisane, narré dans Double suicide à Sonezaki, œuvre perdue par la tradition et dont le concepteur de ce spectacle restaure le passé enfoui.
