Après un premier album « Voyages et Rêves » puis « Luminescence » en duo avec le pianiste Grégory Privat en 2015, deux opus remarqués, le jeune maître du tambour gwo ka poursuit son épopée musicale. Dans « Reflets Denses » qui vient de sortir, Sonny Troupé semble rêver sa musique dans un jeu de miroirs, entre tradition et modernité, racines créoles et aspirations universelles, écriture et improvisation, mobilisant pour cela comme pour mieux brouiller les pistes un double quartet – Mike Armoogum et Michel Alibo à la basse, Grégory Privat et Jonathan Jurion au piano, Olivier Juste et Arnaud Dolmen aux percussions – rejoint au fil des titres par de nombreux invités dont Christian Laviso à la guitare. « Mon idée était de prendre comme base un maximum de types de mélodies gwo ka que l’on retrouve dans le gwo ka moderne et dans le style plus traditionnel, et d’en proposer mes propres arrangements » confie Sonny Troupé, qui signe un troisième opus à haute densité musicale.
