Sous le titre évocateur « Voyages et rêves… », Sonny Troupé semble vouloir nous faire voyager dans sa mémoire musicale et rêver d’une musique nouvelle issue de ses rencontres et de son histoire personnelle. Né en 1978, guidé pour ses premiers pas musicaux sur les routes de la Guadeloupe par son père Georges Troupé, saxophoniste, Sonny est depuis son enfance amoureux du son et des rythmes du tambour ka. Pour son premier opus personnel, il a construit son quartet autour de trois spécialistes de la fusion entre gwo ka et jazz : le pianiste et spécialiste du Fender Rhodes Grégory Privat, le bassiste Mike Armoogum et le percussionniste Olivier Juste. Un noyau dur autour duquel gravitent de nombreux invités prestigieux, symboles de l’ouverture musicale du leader qui ne veut renoncer à aucune couleur pour sa musique, de l’electro au rock : Kenny Garrett, Magic Malik, Linley Marthe, Christian Laviso, etc.
