Pierre Byland, figure tutélaire du clown moderne, a dirigé l’improvisation originelle d’où est né le nouveau spectacle qu’il coréalise avec ses camarades du Foostbarn et du Cirque Werdyn : « une pièce de théâtre pour clowns, croque-morts, chevaux, poules, tracteur, tziganes, enfants, chiens, moutons, violonistes, chanteurs lyriques, cadavres, dieux, techniciens zélotes et une poignée de piment ». Les trois compagnies, trois familles artistiques et trois générations d’arpenteurs de la piste mettent leurs idées et leurs talents en rond et composent tous ensemble, avec une joie évidente d’être ensemble et de retrouver le public, un spectacle qui joue de leurs complémentarités. Le pari est celui d’une synthèse explosive où la vie jaillit des contradictions, des chocs et des propositions lancées avec malice en espérant que l’autre la reprendra, la fera sienne et la transformera à son tour. « Sorry ! », tel est le mot qu’on dit quand la dissemblance est flagrante et qu’il faut s’accommoder de l’autre, tel est le mot que le clown prononce au moment de venir déranger le spectacle et le monde dans lesquels il pénètre et qu’il va dynamiter de sa spontanéité brouillonne et intempestive.
La scène à la vie et à la mort
L’intrigue inventée par les trois compagnies pour agréer leurs talents repose sur cette évidence que là où arrive le clown, souffle la liberté, l’anticonformisme, la remise en question de l’ordre social et de ses cérémonies empesées. Un grand compositeur vient de mourir et ses amis organisent ses funérailles. Le Roi des Aulnes et Schubert survolent de leur grand vol triste et inquiétant l’enterrement qui va son train solennel jusqu’à ce que surgissent un coq, une chèvre, un tracteur et toute la troupe débridée d’un mariage gai et farfelu, bien décidé à prendre la place du mort… La couleur affronte le noir, le champagne l’eau insipide, le rire les pleurs ; la vie, l’amour et la joie tentent de supplanter la tristesse du trépas. Mais les forces obscures résistent et c’est à ce combat que se livrent les membres réunis des trois compagnies à grands renforts de musique, de tours de cheval et de danse. Le spectacle, qui use allègrement du comique de répétition, gagnerait certainement à un peu concentrer ses effets et à alléger ses redites, mais cela étant, on passe néanmoins, et comme toujours lorsque l’amour de la scène est à ce point patent qu’il en devient communicatif, un chouette et sympathique moment.
