Les sciences du cerveau laissent aujourd’hui transparaître l’impossibilité de reconnaître des informations visuelles, dès lors que l’aire cérébrale concernée par le mouvement est atteinte d’une lésion. Hiroaki Umeda investit ce champ d’investigation et nous propose de mettre en jeu « ce que l’oeil ne peut capter qu’à travers le mouvement« . Pour ce travail « plastique » au sens propre, le chorégraphe (actuellement en résidence au Théâtre Louis-Aragon) questionne donc le mouvement – mais un mouvement abstrait, extrait du corps humain. Recourant à la programmation informatique, il invente des mouvements d’une précision inouïe, que le corps ne pourrait pas mettre en oeuvre, et qui s’affranchissent de la logique corporelle : des mouvements qu’il est impossible de réaliser simultanément deviennent exécutables.
Une soirée en deux temps
C’est donc une expérience kinesthésique radicalement nouvelle à laquelle nous invite Hiroaki Umeda. La soirée commencera au Théâtre Louis-Aragon, pour un bain de lumière et de lasers, et se poursuivra au Cinéma Jacques Tati, pour une expérience liée aux technologies numériques : les effets optiques sont alors décuplés. Et face à ce spectacle sans corps d’interprète, c’est le corps du spectateur qui grandit – pour devenir le lieu d’ancrage et de résonance du mouvement.
