OPÉRA EN CONCERT / VERSAILLES
Après Le Retour d’Ulysse dans sa patrie et Orfeo, présentés ces deux dernières années au Festival de Beaune comme au Château de Versailles, l’ensemble Les Épopées poursuit sa quête monteverdienne, avec Le Couronnement de Poppée. À Beaune l’été dernier, Stéphane Fuget avait fait l’unanimité avec sa lecture passionnée servie par un effectif intimiste : huit instruments seulement entourent le chef et claveciniste. Ils retrouvent la Grande Salle des Croisades de Versailles, toujours en version de concert, et les belles voix réunies de Francesca Aspromonte (Poppée), Eva Zaïcik (Octavie), Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian (Othon) et Camille Poul (Drusilla). En Néron, le chef choisit le jeune contre-ténor Nicolò Balducci, déjà familier du rôle, quand il l’avait confié en juillet à la mezzo Isabelle Druet. En marge du concert, Les Épopées enregistreront l’œuvre, qui rejoindra Le Retour d’Ulysse dans la collection discographique « Château de Versailles Spectacles ».
