d’après les journaux de Susan Sontag / conception et mes Alix Riemer
Critique littéraire, cinéaste, essayiste et militante, Susan Sontag est aussi l’auteur de journaux intimes, qu’elle commença de rédiger quand elle avait quinze ans et dans lesquels elle se livra pendant trente ans. Alix Riemer s’empare de ce matériau textuel et explore l’intime de cette femme qui « écrit sur l’amour, le sexe, la littérature, le mariage, la famille, la musique (et) marque ses peurs, ses ambitions, ses révélations, dresse des listes des films à voir, des livres à lire et des musiques à écouter ». Le fils de Susan Sontag, qui a publié ces journaux, dit qu’ils oscillent entre « la douleur et l’ambition » et Alix Riemer a décidé d’explorer « le processus de vie d’un être qui veut devenir exceptionnel ».
Entre œuvre et vie
L’espace scénique se partage entre le lieu du déploiement privé de la diariste et le lieu public, éclairé et lumineux, où est reprise une interview accordée en 1978 par Susan Sontag au magazine Rolling Stone. Le spectateur change de rôle au fur et à mesure du spectacle : confident et témoin invisible dans la première partie, il se transforme en complice fervent des engagements et des prises de positions publiques dans la seconde. L’ensemble vise à interroger le processus de création et les rapports entre l’œuvre et la vie.
