Comment l’idée de vous installer au Théâtre 14 pendant l’été est-elle née ?
Susana Lastreto : C’est parti, il y a dix ans, d’un constat : la diffusion des spectacles est très compliquée. On arrive à créer grâce aux aides, mais, hors des résidences, souvent très courtes, la diffusion est plus difficile. Or, les théâtres parisiens ferment à partir du mois de juin, et pendant deux mois, ils sont libres. Pourquoi ne pas s’y installer ? Danièle Pourtaud, adjointe au Maire de Paris, nous a soutenus, et le Théâtre 14 a accepté notre proposition. Ca n’a pas été facile au début : la programmation hivernale de ce théâtre est très différente de la nôtre, c’était cher et difficile de faire de la publicité, et nous avons dû tout affronter, des travaux du tram à la canicule ! Mais petit à petit, nous avons réussi à fidéliser le public et à le familiariser avec nos propositions originales et atypiques.

Comment les choses ont-elle évolué en dix ans ?
S. L. : Les subventions de la Mairie de Paris n’ont pas augmenté en dix ans. Notre projet passe pour utopique et un peu fou ! La presse nous a soutenus mais toujours en nous présentant comme des fous installés au bord du périphérique ou des croisés de l’été ! On est dans un système où il est difficile d’aller contre. Nous travaillons quand les autres sont en vacances, après Avignon, et les programmateurs ne viennent pas nous voir. Mais même si j’ai compris qu’on ne peut pas changer le monde, je tiens à cette utopie. Pourquoi aller à Avignon louer des garages une fortune plutôt que jouer à Paris ? Nous sommes devenus un point fixe, un rendez-vous annuel, et nous sommes désormais implantés dans l’arrondissement où nous faisons beaucoup de choses pendant l’année.
Quel est le programme de ce dixième anniversaire ?
S. L. : Cette année marque les trente ans de la mort de Brassens, un voisin du théâtre. Il y a quelque chose de son esprit, de sa liberté de faire et de dire embrigadée par rien, qui se retrouve dans notre projet. Ma compagnie crée donc Brassens n’est pas une pipe, un spectacle à la recherche de Brassens, mêlant ses chansons et des textes sur le monde actuel. En levers de rideau, nous accueillerons pléthore de gens qui sont venus pendant dix ans, ainsi que de jeunes compagnies : la Compagnie Simagine avec un spectacle jeune public autour de Kipling, Les pieds dans le plat, un spectacle en forme de réflexion sur l’amour et la famille autour du repas, Le Rêve du papillon, sur ce qui se passe dans le monde, un concert Nougaro et plein d’autres choses qu’on ne voit pas ailleurs !
