Depuis sa nomination en 2006, la chef Susanna Mälkki a réussi à imprimer sa marque à l’Ensemble intercontemporain. Elle a su garder l’identité de la formation tout en l’ouvrant à d’autres répertoires, comme le montrent les deux programmes donnés ce mois-ci à la Cité de la musique. Le 15 avril, la chef finlandaise dirigera l’un des tubes de Pierre Boulez : Répons. Pour tous ceux qui n’ont pas encore entendu cette œuvre révolutionnaire en matière de sons électroniques et de spatialisation, ce concert est à ne manquer sous aucun prétexte. La partition sera par ailleurs donnée deux fois, le public pouvant changer de place à l’entracte afin d’avoir une autre « vision » sonore de la pièce.
Lumières nordiques
Après avoir rendu hommage au père fondateur de l’Ensemble intercontemporain, qui fête cette année ses 85 ans, Susanna Mälkki dirige un programme autour du thème de la lumière, avec une grande part de musique nordique. Deux pièces de Kaija Saariaho, Solar et Lichtbogen, nous rappelleront combien la compositrice finlandaise n’a pas son pareil pour créer des textures sonores aussi complexes que mystérieuses. Mais surtout, on entendra une création de Bent Sørensen, un compositeur danois, professeur à la Royal Academy de Londres, dont l’œuvre n’est quasiment jamais jouée en France. Le programme s’achèvera avec At first light du virtuose et élégant George Benjamin.
