REPRISE / TOULON
Créé à Broadway, le musical de Stephen Sondheim a connu une exposition médiatique inhabituelle lorsque le cinéaste Tim Burton a livré il y a quelques années sa propre lecture de l’histoire du « diabolique barbier de Fleet Street ». Pour autant, l’œuvre de Stephen Sondheim, programmée avec succès en 2011 au Théâtre du Châtelet, reste avant tout une musique pour la scène. Remarqué pour sa remarquable production de Follies de Stephen Sondheim en 2013 à l’Opéra de Toulon (disponible en DVD sur le label Bel Air Classiques), Olivier Bénézech, qui sait faire jouer ses chanteurs, est évidemment l’homme de la situation pour suivre les personnages dans cette intrigue dont le compositeur se plaît à tendre la trame jusqu’à l’extrême.
