Avec cette pièce créée la saison dernière, Thomas Lebrun lâche les festivités et la superficialité (apparente) de ses soirées cabaret pour entrer de plain-pied dans un questionnement sur l’identité. Il développe avec quatre danseurs une recherche esthétique basée sur le masque, déjà entamée avec un précédent solo, Sol Sehen. Ici, les masques sont d’une facture réaliste parfaite, et reprennent le visage de chaque danseur. Chaque visage est multiplié par quatre, ce qui permet aux interprètes d’endosser aisément l’apparence des autres. Derrière ce jeu de cache-cache, le chorégraphe a su mettre en œuvre une danse qui ne fait que rajouter au trouble et, paradoxalement, exposer les identités et dévoiler la pudeur.
Ni déguisement, ni travestissement
Dans cet espace complètement blanc, rien ne peut être dissimulé par les artifices de la lumière. Aux corps de s’assumer pleinement, dans leurs différences. Pourtant, les mouvements d’ensemble, réglés avec minutie dès le début de la pièce, commencent un travail de sape qui n’ira qu’en s’accroissant au fil des situations de corps. Qui est qui ? A force de se cacher, sont-ils personne ? Le jeu des identités multiples et du dédoublement des personnalités bat son plein quand le spectacle bascule vers des territoires plus flous, reprenant les obsessions de Thomas Lebrun. Au final, des questions essentielles de la danse sont bel et bien posées, comme celles du corps unique ou de la place de l’interprète et du chorégraphe. Avec, pour qui aime la personnalité de Thomas Lebrun, des clins d’œil amusants.
