Plusieurs fois récompensé (Victoires de la Musique, Django d’or…) et partenaire ou leader des plus grands (de Solal à Bojan Z, d’Aldo Romano à André Ceccarelli), Sylvain Beuf est l’un des musiciens de référence du jazz français. Il vient de donner naissance à un nouveau groupe impressionnant, vecteur d’une euphorie créatrice où le travail de composition semble être soudain résolument passé au premier plan. En tombant amoureux, Sylvain Beuf, 45 ans, vient de libérer en lui un souffle et une voix nouveaux ouvrant son appétit de musique pour un groupe élargi, construit autour de son trio initial composé de Diégo Imbert (contrebasse) et Franck Agulhon (batterie). Guidé par le désir d’entendre sa musique « en plan large », le saxophoniste (hors-pair) a fait appel au pianiste Jean-Yves Jung et à deux soufflants « stars » Pierrick Pédron au sax ténor et Denis Leloup au trombone. « J’ai écrit, nuit et jour tout le répertoire, j’ai tout orchestré dans un état d’euphorie créatrice que je n’avais jamais connu auparavant. Je n’avais pas à chercher : je trouvais ! J’ai désormais envie de m’exprimer à travers des formations orchestrales plus riches, comme ici en sextet » confie Sylvain Beuf. Un nouveau départ pour le musicien qui signe un album au titre emblématique « Joy » chez Such Prod/Harmonia Mundi, enregistré dans la fièvre de bouillantes soirées en club.
