Avec une mise en scène sobre jouant sur les clairs obscurs et les épaisseurs sonores, Sylvain Giro chante, danse et vit une musique pleine de contrastes, alternant joie et galères, chant et narration. Il invente un style où la chanson s’autorise les riffs bretons, les envolées seventies, les boucles atemporelles. « L’histoire raconte une sorte de quête initiatique, explique Sylvain Giro, un bad trip à la Tim Burton qui finit par arriver au Lac d’Eugénie, un lac paisible au bord duquel je vais me retrouver moi-même. »
Chant rythmique et conte initiatique
Si le spectacle est un pur concert avec chanteur et quartet, il revêt des allures théâtralisées, avec des apartés contées, une gestuelle ludique, une histoire déroulée d’un bout à l’autre, d’une chanson à l’autre. Les chœurs et arrangements des musiciens viennent moduler la puissance très travaillée du chant lead, qui pousse loin sans emphase inutile. « Je viens au départ de la musique bretonne… Ici ou dans le monde entier le chant n’a pas que pour fonction de raconter une histoire, mais aussi d’accompagner du travail, de la danse, une marche. C’est forcément un chant très rythmique, où le signifiant est aussi important que le signifié. ». Avec Sylvan Giro (chant), Erwan Martinerie (violoncelle), Jean-Marie Nivaigne (batterie) et Julien Padovani (orgue Hammond, Fender Rhodes)
