Près de quinze ans après la première version de Talking Heads, Laurent Pelly revient à l’humour sombre et grinçant d’Alan Bennett. Il le fait en compagnie de Christine Brücher, Charlotte Clamens et Nathalie Krebs, les trois comédiennes qui interprétaient le spectacle créé au Théâtre Paris-Villette, en 1993. Mais, si le titre et la distribution de cette nouvelle production restent inchangés, un seul des monologues composant le projet initial (Une Femme sans importance) fait partie de la représentation aujourd’hui mise en scène au Théâtre du Rond-Point. Un Lit parmi les lentilles et Une Femme de lettres ont en effet cédé leur place à Nuits dans les jardins d’Espagne et Femme avec pédicure. Ce Talking Heads version 2009 présente ainsi deux nouveaux textes du dramaturge britannique, textes aux inflexions humoristiques qui envisagent la solitude de femmes ordinaires dont la vie mêle insolite, fantasque et gravité. Des femmes que l’on croit tout d’abord sans histoire, mais qui révèlent peu à peu les ombres et les craquelures de leur existence routinière.
Empêchements intimes et poids des conventions
Pour rendre compte des empêchements intimes, du poids des conventions, d’une forme d’inconsistance du quotidien, Laurent Pelly centre sa mise en scène sur divers pans tronqués de décors réalistes. Un bout de bureau, de cuisine, de salle de bain… Cette succession d’images de la vie de tous les jours, de gros plans colorés, stéréotypés, offre un cadre séduisant et efficace aux confessions d’une petite employée de bureau sans fantaisie, d’une ménagère obsédée par le jardinage, d’une vendeuse de grand magasin férue de pédicurie. Eclairant l’étroitesse de leur existence, ces trois Madame Tout-le-monde prennent corps sur scène à travers des performances quelque peu inégales. C’est surtout Mlle Fozzard, quinquagénaire brillamment interprétée par Charlotte Clamens, que l’on retiendra de ce spectacle. Une quinquagénaire touchante, singulière, à laquelle la comédienne confère une profondeur qui manque parfois aux deux autres personnages. Allant bien au-delà de la justesse illustrative, Charlotte Clamens donne corps au moment de théâtre le plus pénétrant, le plus abouti de cette nouvelle version de Talking Heads.
