On aurait tort de limiter Jean-Claude Malgoire à la musique baroque, même s’il fut l’un des pionniers du renouveau de ce répertoire en France. Il s’est depuis lancé avec succès dans l’œuvre de Mozart, avec notamment une remarquable trilogie Da Ponte au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, et s’attaque désormais à Rossini. Ce mois-ci, il dirige ainsi à l’Opéra Royal de Versailles Tancrède, créé à la Fenice de Venise en 1813. Ce mélodrame, écrit d’après Voltaire, recèle tout ce qui fait le charme de l’écriture rossinienne, de la virtuosité vocale aux couleurs instrumentales, sans oublier ses inévitables crescendos. Le chef, et ancien hautboïste de l’Orchestre de Paris, retrouve son orchestre de la Grande écurie et de la chambre du Roy et l’Ensemble vocal de l’Atelier lyrique de Tourcoing. La distribution, qui évolue dans une mise en scène de facture classique signée Jean-Philippe Delavault, convoque de beaux gosiers, à commencer par le rôle-titre tenu par Nora Gubisch.
