Un orchestre, deux chanteurs, six couples de danseurs : c’est bien souvent ainsi que se présentent les spectacles de tango. Tanguera, créé en 2002 et actuellement en tournée internationale, révolutionne ce schéma. Le producteur et co-scénariste, Diego Romay, a voulu créer une véritable comédie musicale, sur une trame narrative, retraçant une histoire du tango. Un vrai challenge pour les trente danseurs, comme le remarque la chorégraphe, Mora Godoy : « Les danseurs doivent être aussi des comédiens ; avoir une excellente formation technique et savoir donner la réplique. Et puis ils devaient impérativement savoir travailler en équipe. Le danseur ne monte pas simplement sur scène pour y danser son tango… » La musique de Gerardo Gardelin, alternant compositions nouvelles et arrangements de tangos célèbres, accompagne les mille passions de ce spectacle haut en couleurs.
