Ce sont des Sylvestres, être hybrides — entre végétaux et animaux — qui se cachent dans les arbres, créatures inventées par le scénographe et plasticien Jean-Marc Chamblay. « A la fois aussi simple qu’une herbe et peut-être beaucoup plus savant que nous le supposons, le Sylvestre semble posséder le pouvoir naturel d’interférer dans la vie humaine », explique leur créateur. Fruit de la collaboration entre le plasticien, l’auteur Jean Cagnard et la metteure en scène Sylvie Baillon, Tarzan in the garden prend la forme d’une conférence qui nous guide sur les pas de ces personnages aux us et coutumes singuliers. « Les Sylvestres, c’est tout un monde, une utopie mais aussi une archéologie, déclare Sylvie Baillon. Quand Jean-Marc Chamblay raconte ses trouvailles, ses inventions, il est au bord du théâtre. Et ses personnages sont au bord des marionnettes. » Un monde « au bord de » au sein duquel la fantaisie côtoie les zones les plus libres de l’imaginaire.
