C’est au gré de voyages vers sa ville originelle que le metteur en scène argentin Alfredo Arias rencontre écrivains, musiciens, comédiens et chanteurs tandis que lui-même se penche sur livres et documents photographiques et musicaux. Ce chemin initiatique à l’envers le mène à la création scénique de trois pièces musicales. Les épisodes de Trois Tangos chantés en espagnol, italien et français sont de brefs opéras pop que rythment tango, mandoline, Bee Gees et Beatles. Des personnages jaloux sèment quelques cadavres en route, du côté de la Contrescarpe, place mythique pour l’arrivée d’Arias à Paris.Tatouage se penche sur la destinée de l’Espagnol Miguel de Molina, artiste homosexuel poursuivi par la répression franquiste et protégé par Eva Peron. Le spectacle de music-hall propose un dialogue entre ces deux figures lumineuses de marginaux. Quant à Cabaret Brecht Tango Broadway, la création évolue entre art déco, art nouveau et néo-gothique moderne, depuis la terrasse d’un gratte-ciel jusqu’aux bidonvilles de Buenos-Aires. De Brecht à Kurt Weill, du tango nomade aux Broadway songs, du rock classique à sa récupération par le groupe français Nouvelle Vague, ce déferlement ne saurait déplaire à notre cher Arias ni au public ravi de tant de plaisir effréné de jouer.
