Près du fidèle Ariel (Scott Koehler), le magicien Prospéro ( Renato Giuliani) maugrée contre le bestial Caliban (Hovnatan Avedikian), tout en faisant des confidences à sa fille Miranda (Ysmahane Yaqini) dont on fête l’anniversaire. Voilà trente ans qu’ils ont échoué sur cette île entre Naples et Tunis. Prospéro relate l’histoire de sa gloire passée de grand pizzaïolo napolitain, sa chute ourdie par le félon Alonso, usurpateur de pizzeria. Le maître queux prépare un tiramisu impérial quand il voit approcher de l’île, grâce à sa boule de cristal, l’ennemi Alonso et son fils Ferdinand (Bartlomiej Soroczynski). Vengeur, le magicien déclenche aussitôt une Tempête !, une mer en colère qui met les navires en péril. Dès le premier regard, Ferdinand et Miranda s’aiment tandis que Stephano et Trinculo, des rescapés enivrés s’acoquinent avec Caliban pour s’emparer de l’île. De son côté, Ferdinand jongle avec les légumes de la cuisine en saltimbanque inspiré, passe des épreuves initiatiques comme l’exécution de la recette des spaghettis ou des lasagnes et le nettoyage des moules en temps express. La pièce testamentaire se nourrit d’illusions perdues, de sagesse amère et d’espoir fragile. Les cinq comédiens sont truculents de vie, de talent et d’humour, acrobates ludiques et clowns musiciens qui passent d’un rôle à l’autre.
Désordre de music-hall fellinien
Avec la fée Irina Brook, le désenchantement shakespearien devient un chaos de cabaret, un désordre de music-hall fellinien, cinéma italien ou comédie musicale des années 50 où l’on s’amuse malgré les soucis. Les jeunes gens Miranda et Ferdinand étouffent sous la coupe paternelle, ils souhaiteraient vivre pour eux-mêmes. Lumignons de nuit d’été sur une plage, table formica, vestiaire et tissus Liberty, ustensiles de cuisine, tout rappelle l’Italie légendaire et colorée. Le bonheur simple dans l’appropriation du vivant, du concept actif de l’art culinaire et de la convivialité dans la préparation des repas. L’île est un espace de liberté et de respiration à travers l’univers de la pasta, la métaphore filée du spectacle. Les pâtesse consomment en faisant cuire un ruban, un fil, un carré de pâte sèche. Selon Tonino Benacquista, « elles forment un univers en soi, à l’état brut, dont même le plus fin gourmet ne soupçonne pas les métamorphoses. » Comme le royaume de ce théâtre inventif qui s’épanouitgrâce au brio d’une bande joyeuse et gourmande, l’existence offre une variation d’histoires à l’infini. Un feu d’artifice royal sous la voûte céleste.
