Véronique Bellegarde monte le « roman-dit » Terre océane de Daniel Danis, une écriture dévolue à la nature et à l’enfance dont la prose poétique alterne entre narration et dialogues. Créative à son tour, la metteuse en scène convoque sur une scène ouverte aux banquises du Grand Nord, la musique contemporaine jazzy de Médéric Collignon, la photo et les lumières de Xavier Lambours, les effets visuels et la vidéo d’Olivier Garouste. Cet appareillage technologique formel épouse la fable existentielle dans l’évocation d’une mort enfantine prochaine. Ainsi, la disparition injuste de Gabriel (Géraldine Martineau), fils adopté, puis séparé de son père Antoine quand le quitte Mireille, sa conjointe en adoption. La pièce commence dix ans plus tard : Antoine, producteur de films et sans attaches sentimentales (diction baroque et poétique de Gérard Watkins), découvre sur son palier son fils oublié, abandonné par sa mère que la maladie grave de l’enfant effraie. Un chassé-croisé douloureux et complexe entre parents séparés et enfant écartelé. Les abandons successifs mettent en perspective la solitude de l’être inscrit dans nos sociétés urbaines. Cet isolement est tragique dans la mise en danger du fils fragile.
Une nouvelle lumière sur le réel
Mais Gabriel est «récupéré » par Antoine secondé par son oncle Dave (stature imposante de Michel Baumann), père de substitution, bûcheron et chaman, chez qui les citadins s’installent pour les derniers mois à vivre ensemble. Commence la mise en oeuvre de la révélation d’Antoine, identification et reconnaissance de père pour cet adulte à la mi-temps de sa présence au monde, entre adolescence et vraie maturité : « le paradoxe de l’amour exige une sincère présence du cœur et un détachement mental. » Antoine apprend les leçons de la vie : ses sourires moins bridés sont plus agréables et les yeux de Gabriel jettent une nouvelle lumière sur le réel pour « faire mourir la mort » et atteindre les confins de l’essence du vivant. Adepte de la nature et des pratiques divinatoires, l’oncle construit un tipi et une machine volante, ce qui fait entrevoir à Gabriel, dans le tournoiement de l’hélice, le poisson originel ou l’hippocampe, des anamorphoses de la vie et de la mort. Les images célestes de bonheur accompagnent l’adieu : l’enfant voit à la fois des anges et son pays d’origine ; l’oncle dessine un chemin de rondins de bois dans la neige infinie. Présence et compassion de la narratrice (Cécile Bournay). Et sous l’angoisse du néant, survit le disparu, bel immortel dans les « souvenances » des intimes.
