L’actualité en provenance de Terre sainte est hélas toujours aussi tragique, on craint même que la paix ne finisse par devenir une utopie lointaine et floue plutôt qu’une utopie concrète à mettre en œuvre ici et maintenant par des israéliens et des palestiniens. En bon écrivain de théâtre, ouvrant à la fois l’imaginaire et la réflexion, Mohamed Kacimi n’a pas écrit cette pièce pour noircir le réel, exacerber la violence ou jeter de l’huile sur le feu. Il l’a écrite pour « montrer ce qui subsiste de l’humanité des êtres quand tout est fait pour la nier. » C’est pourquoi il ne suggère pas de vision globale de “cette guerre insensée“, mais colle “au plus près des personnages“, montrant que le basculement dans le chaos et l’inhumanité advient par “un dérèglement de sens“, léger, infime, voire imperceptible. Comme symptôme très grave, parmi d’autres, de cette problématique de la dérive vers une terrible inconscience, Dieu et la religion qui se muent en temps de crise « en une maladie grave qui remplace, chez l’être qu’elle affecte, la joie de vivre par la rage de mourir ». Cinq personnages – Yad, Imen, Amin, Alia, Ian – et une ville en état de siège. La pièce, déjà montée dans plusieurs pays, actuellement jouée en Israël, est créée en France par la metteur en scène Sophie Akrich. Un théâtre à voir et écouter comme “une prière profane“, selon les mots de Paul Tabet, directeur de l’association Beaumarchais-SACD, qui préface la pièce.
