AFROBEAT / PANTIN
Aux confins du psyché rock, de la soul éclectique et de l’électronique, la bande qui compose The Afrorockerz s’inspire avant tout de l’afrobeat, la formule magique qui fut inventée par Fela et Tony Allen. Le batteur nigérian fut le boss du guitariste Julien Raulet, à la fondation du groupe avec le bassiste Sylvain Daniel, bien connu et apprécié dans la jazzosphérique électrique. La conjonction des deux, auxquels s’ajoutent quelques autres électrons libres (le chant irradiant d’Allonymous, le timbre étonnant d’Emma Lamadji, la batterie décapante de Maxime Zampieri), offre une relecture oblique, plus « synthétique », du style phare du Nigéria des années 70. Sans jamais perdre le bon sens du groove. Et pour cela, ils peuvent compter ce soir sur la présence de Magic Malik dont les volutes de flûtes ne manquent jamais de vous happer de la tête aux pieds.
