OPERA CONTEMPORAIN / THEATRE DU CHATELET
Imaginez un opéra où les voix sont remplacées par des machines. C’est le parti pris du compositeur japonais Keiichiro Shibuya avec son opéra The End. Le livret, imaginé par Toshiki Okada, met en scène le personnage – ou plutôt la vocaloïde – Hatsune Miku, qui n’existe qu’au travers de sons fabriqués et de projections vidéos. Sur scène, pas de musiciens mais une musique de synthèse. Au Japon, Hatsune Miku désigne réellement un personnage virtuel de jeune fille créé de toutes pièces par un programme de synthèse. Très populaire, cette chanteuse artificielle est devenue une vraie star, égérie de grandes marques comme Toyota. Le compositeur s’empare de ce phénomène de société pour l’étendre à la sphère de l’opéra contemporain. Détail non négligeable, il l’habille en Louis Vuitton !
