L'Autre Scène du Grand Avignon- Vedène /Texte et mes Ahmed El Attar
« Deux thématiques ont constitué le centre de mon travail durant des années : le premier concerne la famille et les rapports de force entre ses membres, le second la relation interdépendante entre maître et serviteur. Ces deux thèmes reflètent le large éventail des dynamiques de la négociation à l’intérieur de la société ainsi que ses perpétuelles crises cachées ou dévoilées ». Avec The last Supper, Ahmed El Attar creuse le sillon, alors que la société égyptienne après la Révolution de 2011 n’a toujours pas « tué le père« … Le travail au plateau instruit un processus de création flexible et vivant.
Veine satirique
« Mon travail ne tente pas d’exposer des problèmes ou de proposer des solutions, encore moins de présenter des vérités comme valeurs absolues. J’aimerais croire que mon travail dépeint tout simplement ce que je vois, aussi déformé et défiguré que je le perçois ». Une famille aisée se réunit pour le dîner. Les personnages sont des stéréotypes de la bourgeoisie égyptienne contemporaine ; chacun d’eux caractérise une attitude percluse par des idées préconçues que leur gestuelle et leur comportement trahissent. Dans une veine satirique, le drame met en scène le vide qui ronge leur vie, leur incapacité à voir la réalité et leurs illusions.
