La musique est un art de la minutie. Tout incident peut faire se dérégler la belle horlogerie d’un orchestre ou d’un ensemble – ou faire naître l’inattendu. Cette idée, qui fut celle de Fellini pour Prova d’orchestra, le compositeur Benjamin de La Fuente la reprend avec The other (in)side, plongée dans les coulisses d’une répétition de L’Histoire du soldat de Stravinsky : un théâtre volontiers absurde mis en scène par Jos Houben et dont les protagonistes sont les musiciens eux-mêmes, poursuivant une musique qui ne cesse de leur échapper. Benjamin de La Fuente est coutumier des musiques contrastées, imprévisibles, tout à la fois narratives et déconstruites jusqu’à l’explosion – on se souvient de son In vino veritas pour l’Orchestre national de jazz, mêlant ses rythmes syncopés à des extraits de Gente di Roma, le film d’Ettore Scola.
