OPERA DE RENNES / OPERA DE STRAVINSKI
C’est en découvrant une série de peintures de Hogarth que Stravinski eut l’idée du Rake’s progress. Cette fable morale, puisée dans le XVIIIème siècle des Lumières et du libertinage, décrit les péripéties de Tom Rakewell, un gentilhomme impécunieux et paresseux, soumis aux tentations de la fortune et de l’amour. Mathieu Bauer, directeur du CDN de Montreuil qui réalise ici son premier spectacle lyrique, choisit de rehausser la caractérisation des personnages en transposant l’intrigue à l’époque de la création de l’opéra, les années cinquante. Sous la baguette de son directeur musical, Grant Llewelyn, l’Orchestre national de Bretagne fera vibrer la réinvention alerte et ciselée de la comédie mozartienne par Stravinski. Julien Behr incarnera Tom Rakewell, aux côtés d’une autre figure de la nouvelle génération du chant français, Elsa Benoît, qui sera Anne Trulove.
