THEÂTRE DE POISSY / RECITAL LYRIQUE
Quel univers impitoyable que l’opéra ! Au XVIIIe siècle, en Angleterre, se joue une lutte impitoyable entre Porpora, compositeur attitré de la compagnie Opera of the Nobilty – fondée par le chanteur Senesino, brouillé avec Haendel – et l’Academy of music de Haendel. Espérant l’emporter sur son rival, Porpora, maître de chant de nombreux castrats, négocie la venue de son ancien élève, le brillant Farinelli. Las ! sa victoire est de courte durée : les deux compagnies finissent par péricliter, ne supportant pas le poids de leurs dettes respectives. Le concert donné au Théâtre de Poissy sous la conduite du premier violon des Musiciens du Louvre, Thibault Noally, met en scène un affrontement entre les deux compositeurs baroques. Si à l’aune de la postérité, c’est Haendel qui l’a emporté, on redécouvrira avec plaisir la musique de Porpora, d’autant que les deux compositeurs ont une interprète de choix : Vivica Genaux.
