Three spells est un triptyque composé de courtes pièces nées de la collaboration entre Damien Jalet, Alexandra Gilbert, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui et Christian Fennesz. S’inspirant du folklore (notamment des traditions des Balkans, du Japon et du Vietnam), de mythes ancestraux (Actéon , Orphée…), ils créent une sorte de mythologie personnelle, archaïque et ultra-contemporaine, aussi sauvage que puissamment civilisée. Leur travail se développe également à partir des propositions d’autres artistes. Ainsi, le premier solo présenté (Venus in Furs) a été composé à partir de deux pièces d’une collection de Jun Takahashi : une robe noire sophistiquée, surmontée d’un voile couvrant le visage, et un manteau blanc en poil de mouton. La danse devient alors une forme de mue, un étrange duo entre un être humain et une enveloppe bestiale.
