A tout juste 24 ans, le natif de Léninakan, biberonné d’Herbie Hancock et sevré de Bud Powell, aligne déjà une sérieuse discographie et des prix glanés haut la main. Tant et si bien qu’il vient de signer un album solo, « A Fable », à un âge où beaucoup se contentent de jouer les seconds rôles. Si les climats post-modernes constituent la trame de ce recueil en solitaire, Tigran touche avant tout à l’essentiel : le storytelling, l’art de raconter une histoire. « J’ai essayé d’interroger le sens d’une chanson », admet celui qui pose sa voix, plutôt grave. Là encore, il fait preuve d’un imperturbable aplomb, d’une étonnante maturité. « Je chante depuis toujours, mais il a quand même fallu bosser. » C’est ainsi qu’il fait siens un hymne médiéval, « The Spinners » de Georges Gurdjieff et un classique d’entre les classiques, « Someday My Prince Will Come », sans oublier d’y apposer quelques thèmes de sa plume. Tous reliés à un fil narratif, de digressions en points de suspension, qui tient en haleine même les plus dubitatifs quant aux prouesses gymnastiques de cet ex-enfant prodige.
