Issus des ateliers du Sudden Théâtre, les membres de la compagnie des chimères et des hippogriffes présentent ici leur deuxième pièce, après Théâtre de Poche (2008), monologues de Jean Cocteau. C’est à la demande de l’auteur Elie-Georges Berreby qu’ils se sont lancés dans cette aventure, initiée par un long travail d’expérimentation sur le texte afin de transcrire sur scène une atmosphère d’inquiétante étrangeté au cœur d’un univers absurde et troublant. La pièce s’articule autour de la figure du Docteur Ange Sidi, star de la diététique, flanqué d’une épouse encombrante et d’une fille indifférente, et qui commet un mystérieux crime. Il est emprisonné, et tous – famille, banquier, actionnaires – s’agitent pour innocenter ce poids lourd de l’économie, qui n’a pas l’intention de quitter sa cellule. Loin de tout naturalisme, le metteur en scène Rémi Prin élabore un substitut insolite de notre monde en entremêlant les époques et les styles, s’inspirant pour la direction d’acteurs des codes de jeu expressionnistes afin de définir les comédiens comme « les filtres d’un monde malade qui les possède ». Un parti pris très pertinent et intéressant, qui sous l’hypocrisie de la parole, laisse voir la démesure des sentiments, entre le rire et le démoniaque.
