Théâtre de la Tempête / de William Shakespeare / mes Cyril le Grix
Comme Le Roi Lear et Coriolan, Timon d’Athènes met en scène la conversion d’un homme de pouvoir à la misanthropie et à l’isolement. Si Cyril le Grix a porté son choix sur cette pièce de Shakespeare assez rarement mise en scène depuis Peter Brook en 1975 plutôt que sur une des deux autres pièces, c’est en grande partie du fait de l’originalité de sa composition. Avec une première partie satirique où le riche Timon fait figure de généreux bienfaiteur, la seconde donne en effet à voir l’Athénien retranché dans un lieu désert. Assez misérable pour se nourrir de racines. Cyril le Grix privilégie la dimension comique de l’oeuvre, sans occulter sa violence ni sa dimension critique. Adapté de la traduction de Jean-Claude Carrière, son Timon pointe les incohérences du système économique occidental et du capitalisme. Auprès de dix comédiens aguerris – avec Patrick Catalifo dans le rôle central –, cinq jeunes artistes du studio d’Asnières – ESCA font entendre avec force cette résonance contemporaine.
