Fleur des pavés de Bastille, Renée Lebas voit le jour le 23 avril 1917 dans une famille de juifs roumains immigrés en France. Son nom, un peu oublié aujourd’hui, demeure celui d’une jolie figure des années 50, ambassadrice à sa façon de la musique yiddish sur le terrain de la chanson française. Révélée par un radio-crochet, elle signe son premier disque juste avant la deuxième guerre mondiale, qui l’oblige à s’exiler en Suisse, et trouve le succès en 1952 avec « Tire, tire l’aiguille, ma fille », cosignée par Eddy Marnay pour les textes et par Emil Stern et Eddie Barclay pour la musique. Ce tube sera repris mille fois, par Line Renaud d’abord puis Dalida et bien d’autres. Mais la carrière de Renée Lebas ne se résume pas à ce coup d’éclat et est jalonnée de belles réussites (Vian, Ferré, Trénet, Lemarque composent pour elle). Claire Zalamansky, nomade de la chanson dont on avait aimé le programme de chants sépharades, a la bonne idée de remettre en scène ce répertoire. Une plongée dans le Paris des faubourgs des années 50. Avec Elsa Granat (mise en scène) et Alexis Kune (accordéon, piano).
