L’ancien guitariste d’Astor Piazzolla, parisien depuis 1977, signe un nouvel album et joue pour la première fois au Théâtre de la Ville. Sa musique savante s’ancre, tout en les dépassant, dans les traditions du tango : « Je ne saurais dire avec certitude si le tango s‟est infiltré par effraction dans ma musique ou si c’est ma musique qui est rentrée dans l’univers du tango sans lui demander l‟autorisation. Ni la mienne, d’ailleurs. Le plus grand respect que je puisse manifester au tango consiste à être irrévérencieux à son égard » résume celui que l’on surnomme “dedos mágicos” (doigts magiques). Pour ce concert au Théâtre de la Ville en forme de consécration, il réunit son quintette régulier (Juanjo Mosalini au bandonéon, Gerardo Jerez Le Cam au piano, Iacob Maciuca au violon et Éric Chalan à la contrebasse) augmenté des deux « cordes » Lionel Allemand au violoncelle et Marc Desmons à l’alto et du manipulateur de sons David Gubitsch (électro-acousticien). Le répertoire du groupe reviendra sur trente ans de composition dans un esprit de recréation et puisera aussi évidemment au répertoire du nouvel album "Ítaca" (chez TG1co chez Socadisc).
