Organiste, claveciniste et chef d’orchestre, Ton Koopman est l’une des personnalités centrales du mouvement baroque. Sa passion pour les instruments originaux et les recherches musicologiques le conduit à créer dès 1969, à l’âge de 25 ans, son premier orchestre baroque, puis dix ans plus tard son célèbre Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. Mais dans le même temps, Koopman a aussi été l’un des chefs baroqueux les plus disponibles à la collaboration avec des formations symphoniques traditionnelles, du Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam au Cleveland Orchestra (où il vient d’être nommé « Artiste en Résidence » pour trois ans à compter de 2011) en passant par l’Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France qui l’accueille régulièrement. Pour ce prochain concert, il dirige des Airs d’opéras de Haendel interprétés par le contre-ténor Gérard Lesne, la Musique pour les feux d’artifice royaux, toujours de Haendel et, après l’entracte la Symphonie n° 40 de Mozart. Le chef-d’œuvre symphonique mozartien sera repris par les mêmes interprètes pour deux rendez-vous de la série « Les Clefs de l’orchestre » présentés par Jean-François Zygel (le 12 à 14h30 et le 13 à 11h).
