Créée en 2002 par le metteur en scène Nzey Van Musala, la version congolaise de Toréadors transpose la pièce de Jean-Marie Piemme dans la République du Congo contemporaine. Mêlant l’écriture acérée de l’auteur belge aux contrepoints musicaux de Jean Goubald Kalala, ce spectacle aux accents de combat tauromachique tire à vue sur les nombreuses dérives touchant les sociétés contemporaines, qu’elles soient européenne ou africaines : banalisation de la précarité, abus de l’économie ultralibérale, inégalités sociales, stigmatisation des sans-papiers… Prenant à bras le corps ce texte à l’humour incisif, les comédiens kinois Kosi-Basak Ngaki et Shaka Tshipamba s’affrontent dans une joute révélant une société congolaise pleine d’incertitudes et de contradictions, une société qui en vient à priver ses citoyens de leurs droits les plus élémentaires.
