Dans une bourgade, au fin fond des Carpates, un comte tyrannique voit son existence basculer le jour où il reçoit la visite d’un ange de la mort. Ce dernier a pour dessein d’emporter cet être égoïste vers l’au-delà. Mais, bien sûr, le condamné veut à tout prix échapper au trépas. Il cherche donc désespérément quelqu’un pour effectuer à sa place ce voyage sans retour… Mise en scène par Amélie Porteu de la Morandière et Vincent Menjou-Cortès, cette « comédie crue » de Hanokh Levin nous plonge au sein d’un monde de théâtre aux frontières du médiéval, de l’allégorique et du contemporain. Un monde grotesque, paradoxal, à la fois tranchant et profondément drôle, dont les deux cofondateurs de la Compagnie Aquilon s’emparent pour créer « un spectacle où se mêleront humour et tendresse, poésie et cruauté, naïveté et discernement ».
