Théâtre de la Cité internationale / Conception et mes SMITH & Matthieu Barbin
Interprète pour Gerard & Kelly, Marlène Saldana et Jonathan Drillet, ainsi que pour Boris Charmatz, Matthieu Barbin, artiste polymorphe, avait déjà été invité par Lafayette Anticipation à créer un objet visuel, CAVERN, façonné par le vocabulaire de la danse, du cinéma et de l’architecture, en collaboration avec Alix Eynaudi et Louise Hémon. TRAUM (Le Paradoxe de V.), cosignée avec SMITH, est sa première pièce en tant qu’auteur. Le monde virtuel, conçu par SMITH (photographe, cinéaste, plasticien-ne et doctorant-e en esthétique), est une installation ou se côtoient des statuettes en 3D, des photos tirées sur aluminium ou un court-métrage. C’est le cadre d’une fable rétrofuturiste dans un univers onirique et plastique. Le titre, TRAUM, vient à la fois du mot « rêve » en allemand, et de « trauma ». Associer les deux nous rapproche du cauchemar du héros cosmique de cette pièce : un certain Vlad dont le corps se retrouve pulvérisé dans l’espace. C’est surtout une expérience insolite, à la lisière de la performance, de l’image en mouvement et des réalités virtuelles, proposée au spectateur par ces deux artistes hors norme.
