La compagnie Hors-Pistes se méfie des habitudes. De la même façon qu’ils préfèrent qualifier leur pratique de « cirque qui se construit aujourd’hui » plutôt que cirque « nouveau » ou « contemporain », les artistes de cette compagnie installée depuis dix ans dans la région Languedoc-Roussillon prennent garde à ne pas tomber dans la facilité sur scène. Après tout, à force d’être répété de numéro en numéro, le risque ne devient-il pas une forme de routine ? Dans Travelling circus, Vincent Gomez et Christian Lucas trouvent un remède mécanique contre ce danger : trois tapis roulants de trois mètres par un mètre. Sur ce plateau instable, cinq acteurs-circassiens questionnent non seulement leurs agrès – monocycle, vélo acrobatique ou encore sangles aériennes – mais aussi le vivre ensemble et l’utopie. La possibilité d’inventer un monde nouveau en ne changeant qu’un détail de l’ancien. Ou mieux, en ne changeant que le regard qu’on lui porte.
