Madrid, 23 février 1981 : la date de la tentative du coup d’état du colonel Tejero contre la démocratie naissante en Espagne. Sur l’écran géant de la scène de Miguel-Ange & Carolina, les images vidéo du matamore moustachu au tricorne de guingois, revolver au poing, à la tribune des Cortes – la Chambre des députés espagnole –subjuguent le spectateur. Miguel-Ange s’en souvient, tandis qu’il interprète le célèbre boléro flamenco. Un taureau, un matador et une véronique, le ton est donné, celui de l’ambiance festive de la corrida. Alter ego de Miguel-Ange, Carolina, présentatrice de show télé, porte une perruque blonde synthétique à la frange rougeoyante. Divers emblèmes culturels affleurent. On trouve ainsi un Guernica de fortune, déstructuré et revisité par Niki de Saint-Phalle, on assiste à l’éloge de l’Espagne des vacances, grâce à un vidéoclip où le spectateur découvre qu’il peut gagner un séjour sur la Costa Blanca.
Un moment joyeux et convivial
Sur le plateau, avec des arrangements électro-pop, Miguel-Ange et Carolina interprètent des chansons originales et revisitent des classiques de la chanson française, en espagnol. La starlette a le temps, entre projections et chansons, de préparer dans sa cuisine une tortilla pour l’invité du jour, qui partage son plat avec le public. C’est un moment joyeux et convivial – gouaille, esprit moqueur et bon enfant. Mais l’instant véritablement attendu advient, Miguel-Ange se dépouille des artifices de Carolina, et se dévoile dans un répertoire original de chansons, un moment fort et émouvant, d’autant qu’il vient d’accomplir un parcours authentique de quête des origines – politiques, nationales, culturelles et identitaires. Chanteur, Miguel-Ange est aussi comédien des répertoires classiques et d’avant-garde. Bravo aux trois artistes de Très, Miguel-Ange au chant, Jean-Christophe Déjean aux claviers et Rémi Cotta aux percussions et à la caméra. Le charme de Miguel-Ange est sûr, entre mélancolie et sourire : « Je suis à nouveau côté à l’argus des mal-aimés »…
