Marquée du sceau de l’éclectisme et animée d’une curiosité sans frontières, enjambant les continents, de Nana Vasconcelos à Oumou Sangare, des sœurs Labèque à Don Cherry, la carrière du percussionniste indien lui confère une place tout à fait particulière, non loin du jazz qui demeure au fil des années l’un de ses points d’ancrage, l’autre étant bien entendu la musique carnatique. Ce natif de Bombay a d’ailleurs coutume de dire qu’il “ ne joue pas du jazz, mais de la musique improvisée avec des jazzmen ”. C’est encore le cas ce soir avec ce trio composé de Jan Ozverein à la guitare, Gros Ngolle Pokossi à la basse, Carlo Cantini au violon. Soit un tapis de cordes sensibles qui devrait permettre à Trilok Gurtu de décoller vers des improvisations telluriques. Le lendemain, le show d’Olli and The Bollywood Orchestra (nouvel album : "Tantra"), voyage musical et vidéo dans l’univers délirant des films Bollywood, prolongé par le DJ Ganesh et son cocktail épicé de douces vibrations lounge et de drum’n’bass.
