Le roi Marc de Cornouailles confie au valeureux Tristan le soin d’aller chercher Iseut, la belle aux cheveux d’or dont il veut faire sa souveraine. Mais à cause d’un philtre d’amour, bu par erreur lors du voyage de retour d’Irlande, Iseut règne à jamais sur le cœur de Tristan, pour toujours attaché à celle qui devait épouser son oncle. Les amants sont trahis par les barons de Marc, qui condamne Tristan et Iseut au bûcher. Enfuis dans la forêt du Morois, ils sont traqués par le roi qui les retrouve et leur accorde finalement son pardon. Maëlys Simbozel adapte le mythe avec « dans la tête les images de bords de mer du Finistère : le granite, la lumière mystique, la force des vagues, la lumière du phare d’Eckmühl, l’air marin ». Elle prend le parti d’en faire un conte moderne : une narratrice fait naître autour d’elle des tableaux animés, dans un langage à la fois contemporain et lyrique. La lumière et la musique habillent une scénographie épurée où les légendes celtes colorent une histoire d’amour universelle.
