Une (é)toile mystérieuse pour acteurs taxidermistes, pantins et objets hétéroclites, un conte polysémique, une invitation à se méfier des apparences et des histoires de familles, une fable qui se joue des mythes en les dépiautant, une sorte de carnaval rituel… Trois vieilles, c’est un peu tout cela à la fois, ou l’histoire de Garga, une servante centenaire, et de deux jumelles de 88 ans (Grazia et Meliza), aristocrates déchues et décrépies qui rêvent encore au prince charmant. Ici, tout est prétexte au jeu et au théâtre. « Les frontières entre le réel et la fiction sont toujours très poreuses chez [Alexandro Jodorowsky], fait remarquer le metteur en scène Jean-Michel d’Hoop, comme s’il voulait nous dire par le procédé lui-même qu’il faut cesser de séparer ces deux mondes, qu’il y a quantité de passerelles entre l’onirique et le quotidien et que voir les choses selon deux prismes seulement, le “naturel” et le “sur-naturel”, n’a de sens qu’au vu de l’étroitesse de nos systèmes de pensées. » Quatre acteurs-manipulateurs (Cyril Briant, Sébastien Chollet, Pierre Jacqmin et Coralie Vanderlinden), trois marionnettes-personnages (signées Natacha Belova) : Trois vieilles agit comme un miroir déformant qui nous plonge dans un univers de conte pour adultes où la décrépitude est poussée jusqu’au burlesque.
