Excellemment interprété, par la même troupe que celle d’Andromaque (2008), cet Ubu percutant mis en scène par Declan Donnellan fait une fois de plus la prevue du talent saisissant du metteur en scène. Au départ, un salon bourgeois immaculé où règnent ordre et sérénité, puis par l’intermédiaire d’un ado filmant le monde tel un miroir grossissant apparaissent les premières failles… avant le basculement dans le monstrueux grotesque qui transforme le monde en un champ de bataille épouvantable. Allers-retours entre le policé et l’outrancier, révélation de ce qui se trame sous la surface : cet Ubu plein de vitalité tape dans le mille. Comme l’a confié Declan Donnellan dans nos colonnes (n°202) : “à travers leurs actions, Ma et Père Ubu évoquent un potentiel de violence qui existe au fond de nous tous : une violence qui provient de cette partie de nous-mêmes qui nous pousse, en tant qu’êtres humains, (et cela constamment) à la poursuite du pouvoir, parfois le pouvoir absolu.(…) C’est un des points forts de la pièce de nous remettre en contact avec notre propre bassesse, et ainsi d’éclaircir ce que nous pensons pouvoir contrôler, nier ou refouler”. La pochade provocatrice et cruelle peut ainsi effrayer autant qu’elle fait rire…
